Classes

Mummy & Me: a lovely fun way to begin their dancing journey. Our classes are specially designed to build coordination, balance, rhythm and social skills with the person they trust and love by their side. Age group is 2 to 3 years, parents – any age!

All Little Tots Classes: designed for children at pre-school age (3-5yrs) & includes a mixture of ballet, jazz and tap and runs for 45 minutes.  Parents are able to view their children in our special viewing area. This class launches them on their road to music and dance appreciation and gets them to build confidence, and learn movement. Be ready for them to come home & teach you! 

Funky Jazz: once a week class for kids who love the beat!  A mixture of Funk & Street Jazz, just like you see on the latest video clips. No exams are involved but you will be able to see them ‘strut their stuff’ at our fun Star Quest in June and our Concert in November.

Hip Hop: the latest style using isolations, popping and locking and free styled movement. These upbeat urban dance classes are great fun and will further develop greater technique and self confidence for both boys and girls. This class is offered at boys only, junior, intermediate, stage 1/2 – 10yr/over beginnersand senior level.  We also have a 90 min BOYS ONLY Hip Hop & Acro class, just for the guys to learn to tumble and crump.

Tap: this is a fun form of dance but still requires technique & style.  Our syllabus is one of the most modern techniques available to kids & is endorsed by Dein Perry from Tap Dogs.  Again you can do this lesson for fun or do the yearly exam.  Kids love the noise – parents just learn to get use to it. 

Ballet – Classical,Lyrical,Contemporary: Classical classes are for technique development and deportment skills & can be either for fun (fairy ballet – up to 8 years) or for the more serious dancer who will undertake yearly exams. Lyrical ballet is the step in between Classical & Jazz & is more free moving than Classical itself.  Contemporary ballet, a stronger form of dance which is included in the Education Department curriculum for High School students.

Acrobatics: tricks, tricks & more tricks.  Taken by professional gym instructors this lesson is to teach the kids safe tumbling.  Starting off with the basics & advancing at their own pace, it will encourage kids to have a try at things they wouldn’t normally know how to attempt.  Involves floorwork only – cartwheels, walkovers, back flips etc. Elite Acrobatics is an advance class and is available for the experienced acrobat.

Singing: is available in age appropriate group classes. Private lessons are also available. Class Numbers are limited to ensure children can be easily heard on an individual basis. Once each term, there is a ‘sound’ practice with live microphones. All classes held in our high quality singing room.

Drama: age appropriate classes that will develop your imagination, voice and confidence in a fun programme designed to find the actor within all of us. 

Interested in Performance Groups or Competitions: we have a show group that tours domestically and internationally. The Studio also offers Troupe which compete in approximately 5 Eisteddfods a year with ages ranging from 4 – 16. For more information please ask at Reception.

Adult Classes

A variety of classes are available for Adults - Jazz Funk, Tap, Drama or Singing. Invigorate yourself in a comfortable environment, meet new friends and learn something new.

Tiny Tots

For the child that loves to move and dance to Hi Five and the Wiggles. This 45 minute class at Moorebank Studio includes a mixture of ballet, jazz and tap and launches them on their road to music and dance appreciation, building their movement and confidence levels. Parents are able to watch their children tapping and being a ballerina through our special viewing window. Be ready for them to come home & teach you!
Age: 3 1/2-5yrs, Pre Schoolers

Groovy Bubs & Tots

For the child that loves to move and dance to Hi Five and the Wiggles. This 45 minute class at Wattle Grove Studio includes a mixture of ballet, jazz and tap and launches them on their road to music and dance appreciation, building their movement and confidence levels. Both ballet and tap shoes are required. Be ready for them to come home & teach you! Groovy Bubs are usually 3-4 years, Groovy Tots 4-5 years.

Fairy Ballet & Tap

No longer a Tiny Tot this is the class for the junior ballerina and tapper. Designed as their first ‘big kids’ class it is lots of fun, where they really begin to develop their ballet and tap technique, memory skills and dancing aptitude. Parents are able to view their children in our special viewing area for this one hour class. Age: 4-5 yrs, Kindergarten Students

Acrobatics

Tricks, tricks & more tricks. Taken by professional gym instructors this lesson is to teach the kids safe tumbling and acrobatics. Involving floor work only – tumbling, cartwheels, walkovers, back flips, somersaults and Bahrainis. Classes are according to age and skill level: Level 1 (5-10yrs), Level 2 (8-11yrs), Level 3 (11+), Elite (any age, skill based)

Funky Jazz

Once a week class for kids who love the beat! This is a mixture of Funk & Street Jazz, just like you see on the latest video clips. Classes are according to age and dance experience with no exams involved but you will be able to see them ‘strut their stuff’ at our fun Star Quest in June and Annual Concert in November.
Age: 5-18 yrs, Adults Class18 +

Hip Hop

This is a great addition to Funky Jazz using isolations, popping and free styled movement. These upbeat urban dance classes are great fun and will further develop greater technique and self confidence for boys and girls. Classes are separated according to dance experience. Hip Hop Stage 1 is great for 10yrs plus with no dancing experience, whilst the other classes are designed for those already doing other dance styles: Junior (8/u), Intermediate (12/u), Senior (13+)

Boys Only!

This is definitely only for the boys who want to let loose. This combined 80 minute class includes Hip Hop and Acrobatics, for the guys who want to learn to tumble and crump.
Age: 5-18 yrs

Drama

Classes that will develop your imagination, voice and confidence in a fun programme designed to find the actor within all of us. Classes are according to age: Junior (5-8yrs), Intermediate (9-12yrs), Senior (13-18yrs), Adults (18yrs+)
Age: 5 and over

Singing

Tired of having the kids sing in the car to the radio and out of tune! Singing classes are a perfect way to develop the vocal chords and learn what ‘pitch’ is all about. Students learn techniques that improve their natural ability and range for example, diaphragmatical breathing, freedom of voice & expression, range expansion & scales, microphone usage, performance and stage skills. Classes are kept small to ensure individual attention and are age appropriate. Adult and private classes are also available. Junior (5-8yrs), Intermediate (9-12yrs), Senior (13-18yrs), Adults (18+)
Age: 5 and over

Classical Ballet

Ballet is the basis of all forms of dance and is perfect for technique development and deportment skills. Classes can be for fun (fairy ballet – up to 8 years) or for the more serious dancer who will undertake yearly exams and receive certification for each BAL level achieved. All ballet students from Grade 1 and up require 2 lessons per week. Age 5 – 18yrs

Tap

This is a fun form of dance but still requires technique & style. The Glenn Wood syllabus is one of the most modern techniques available & is endorsed by Dein Perry from Tap Dogs. Again you can do this lesson for fun (Funky Fun Tap) or do the yearly exam and achieve certification for each level. Kids love the noise – parents just learn to get use to it.
Age: 5 – 18yrs, Adults Class (18+)

Conditioning & Stretch

Perfect for any dancer this class develops the appropriate stretching and conditioning techniques that minimize muscle injury and extend flexibility. Whilst this is a must for any troupe member, any dance student can join. Junior (5-8yrs), Intermediate (9-12yrs), Senior (13+)
Age: 5-18yrs.

Modern

This dance style is also often called Expressive or Lyrical dance and is the step in between classical and Jazz and is more free moving. This may be the class for those not enjoying the stricter ballet movements but still wanting to feel like a ballerina. Levels are based on age: Pre Modern (6-7yrs), Junior (8-9yrs), Intermediate (10-12yrs), Senior (13+)
Age: 6-18 yrs.

Contemporary

Contemporary uses the dance techniques of classical and modern styles but has less structured form and movement, often utilising the floor, turn in of the legs and working in bare feet. This style is predominant in high school dance and is a must for anyone studying dance. Intermediate (10-12yrs), Senior (13+)
Age: 10-18 yrs

Pointe

Extension of ballet for students attending Pre Elementary classes and upwards where special shoes are worn to enable ballerinas to work on the tip of their toes to appear weightless. Pointe shoes are a prerequisite for this class.
Age: 12 – 18 yrs

Troupe

For the dancer who is keen to further develop their skills and be a part of a competitive team, committed to attending approximately 5-6 Eisteddfods a year. Troupe involves additional costume costs, practice time and lots of team spirit. Troupes are divided according to age and members must already attend a minimum of dance styles.
Age: 5 – 18 years.

Soloist

Troupe members who would like to experience the stage for on their own and compete in Eisteddfods. This involves personal commitment to practice and is a great way to begin a dancing career.
Age: 8-18 yrs

Performance Groups

We have 2 different show groups: Sparkie Kidz – (Junior and Intermediate) that perform around 2-3 times per year in the local area at fetes and charity events or Dance Cargo that tours domestically and internationally. Speak directly to Reception if you are interested in either of these groups.
Age: 5-18 yrs
